Hire Will for IT

About my services:

When I was about 10 years old, I cut my teeth on my first computer, which was a Tandy PC from Radio Shack.  I was encouraged to tinker with it, break it, fix it, memorize command line procedures in DOS, even get into basic programming (with BASIC even).

During my scholastic career, of course I was called out for being ‘the geek’.  I was teased mercilessly for this.  However, I never let that deter me from my love for technology.  And thankfully by not listening to the immature cries of my peers, I have made my professional career being very directly related to it.  Over the years, I’ve done computer programming, technical support (on-site and over the phone), went to school for Electrical Engineering (so I could build computer parts, ironically), web development, network administrator (even as a hobby).

With a combination of old school tech, and living on the bleeding edge of tech today, I bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to whatever project I’m associated with.  In addition, the Internet has leveled the playing field, making information available to anyone and making connecting with said information even easier.  If there is something I don’t know, I seek to learn about it.  In addition, I am a connector for other services.

If you wish to contact me, send me an email to will [AT} dlwconsultants.com.  You can also read below for more information on some of the services I provide.

In my business, I’m a self employed Small Business IT Consultant, offering the following services:

Computer Repair / Desktop Support

If you have the following, I can help

  • a computer that is slow
  • doing weird things while visiting websites
  • your anti-virus is out of date
  • something is broken and you can’t fix it yourself
  • you went to another tech (i.e. Geek Squad) and you want another opinion
  • virus, spyware, and adware removal

I can help with that. I can repair most problems on-site or remotely with an internet connection.

Wired and Wireless Networking

This includes the following

  • Connecting different systems (Windows, Mac, and Linux) on the same network
  • Sharing resources (Storage, Printers, even Media Centers) across a network
  • Auditing your current network for Security and bandwith
  • Building a network from scratch

Backup Solutions (On-site, and Online Offsite)

Everyone needs a backup solution.  Hard drives fail.  It’s not a question of if, it’s a question of when.  In addition, due to laptop thieves and other potential disasters that can occur, it’s also wise to have an offsite backup solution as well.  I can help with both.

Small Website Design (small WordPress sites, online business cards, etc.)

Most Web Design firms pitch a one size fits all, $2500 solution that most small businesses starting up cannot afford.  In addition, most of the resources out there for doing it yourself and WYSIWYG websites are out of touch with today’s technology.  On top of this, most design firms control the content, the domain name, and all the information and lock the client into retainer contracts for updates and information.

My blog, and most of my clients I recommend to be setup with WordPress, an open-source solution that allows the client to control their content and be involved in their brand and image.  Once I set your site up, you control all aspects of it.  Most sites start at $750 dollars, which doesn’t include major graphic design.

If you do need a larger site, I have a web design team that I’m aligned with that can help.  But my service is for clients that have small budgets and want to get online.

Purchasing Assistant

Want to purchase a computer?  Don’t want to get a bad deal?  Did you know that most clients actually purchase a machine that is not what they need?  Retail shopping for computers in most cases ends up with nightmares later on.  Some clients purchase really cheap computers, only to find out the software costs are through the roof.  I can help you make the correct decision for your needs, in addition, if necessary I can build a custom solution PC which can save even more money.

The services above can be set to an hourly rate of $100 an hour plus any material costs.   All services are guaranteed by 100% satisfaction.  If you do not like your solution, or I cannot repair the PC, then I don’t get paid.

On a contract basis, I can provide the following services.

Software and Web Application Development

This is a very new service I can provide.  Again, most software, (including my blog) may need some custom tweaks from here to there.  It also helps that if a website goes down due to a software bug, I can research and fix the problem.  This area covers the following

  • Website Integration
    • Facebook Connect (connecting existing websites to Facebook’s API)
    • Twitter (coming soon)
    • Amazon.com (coming soon)
    • Shopping Carts
    • Credit Card Processing
  • Application Development
    • Facebook Applications
    • iPhone App Development (coming soon)
  • Custom Code Solutions (I can code in C++, JavaScript, PHP, and ASP.net)

Social Media Marketing Strategy (Facebook, Twitter, Blogging)

Multimedia Technology (Setting up computers to play videos / pictures on HDTVs, Home media servers)

Customer Relations Technology (i.e. CRM systems, Maintaining contacts)
